The Milano Gazette, Saturday, February 14, 1920: "What Some Milano People Have To Say. Mr. C. M. Beard says: We folks in town can do just what we please about that old city well as far as he is concerned. He has contributed money and helped to keep that old well in shape ever since the year 1883, and whenever he or other people from the country came in town to get a drink of cool water or water their teams they found the well dry and muddy. He says if it afforded an inexhaustible supply of water then it might be worth fixing up. We saw him take a look at it a few days ago and the above is his reply when we asked him what he thought ought to be done with the old well."
