JOE A. MORGAN

The Milano Gazette, Saturday, June 26, 1920: "Mr. J. A. Morgan returned home this week from Bastrop where he had been attending the bedside of his brother, Mr. W. H. Morgan, who died at his home in the Alum Creek community south of Bastrop Sunday at noon. Mr. Morgan was 72 years of age and left a wife and 5 children, besides his brother here at Milano and a half-brother in Illinois. Our Mr. Morgan was with his brother when he passed away and he says there are some mighty nice and good people in Bastrop county, and to them he extends his sincere thanks and appreciation for the many services rendered during the illness and death of his brother."

The Milano Gazette, Saturday, Dec. 18, 1920: "Mr. J. A. Morgan of the western Milano country sold 26 head of turkeys one day this week for which he received $85.05. The turkeys weighed 243 pounds and brought 35 cents per pound. This makes $160 worth of turkeys he (or rather Mrs. Morgan to be more accurate) sold this year. The turkeys we are sure were raised by Mrs. Morgan, but Mr. Morgan says he has 52 head of hogs which are waiting for a better market price before he sells them. Hogs at 4 to 6 cents a pound, Mr. Morgan says, are too cheap to sell."
