JAMES ALEXANDER SHAFER, SR.

James Alexander Shafer, Sr. was born in Alabama about 1843, the son of William and Agnes Shafer (formerly Shaver). James Alexander Shafer, Sr. settled in the Pin Oak community in 1860. He married Litius "Lettie" Vaughn. She was born in Alabama and was the daughter of Mary M. Vaughn. James Alexander Shafer, Sr. and Litius Vaughn Shafer had two children: (1) James Alexander Shafer, Jr., and (2) John Frank Shafer, Sr.
